Case: you can now charge your EV at Original Sokos Hotel Ilves in Tampere
Original Sokos Hotel Ilves in Tampere, Finland wanted to offer its hotel guests a quality charging service – electric vehicle charging device supplied and installed by Plugit.
Baseline: To provide a safe, practical charging service for customers
Original Sokos Hotel Ilves wasn’t previously about to offer drivers of electric vehicles (EVs) a charging service at all. However, the hotel was made aware of the increasing number of EVs by its own customers, and noticed that more and more hotel guests were rigging up their own charging cables in the parking hall.
”We saw the need for a proper charging point from the safety aspect”, says Kati Vihma,
Hotel Ilves selected Plugit Finland as their cooperation partner in the implementation of EV charging points. Together with their customer, Plugit set to designing a complete charging device solution, according to the customer’s requirements.
Solution: A quality, turnkey charging service
Survey of requirements, and design
The project kicked off with a meeting between Plugit and the electrical engineer of the site, with whom Plugit mapped the possibilities regarding how the charging point would be realised. The hotel staff were also involved in establishing the required services that would be suitable. In this case the important thing was to be able to offer hotel guests a quality charging service, and for example to put customer service calls through to the professionals.
On the basis of the discussions with the client, Plugit Finland recommended Chago EVF200 charging devices for Hotel Ilves’ purposes.
A charging system that fulfils requirements
Plugit was responsible for the supply, installation and branding of the charging devices, in accordance with the hotel’s requests. The charging points serve the hotel guests, at a cost of €5 per charge.
Now in use, the charging points have fulfilled the hotel’s expectations completely. The parking spaces are painted an eye-catching green, and the wall-mounted charging point signs indicate that those places are reserved for EVs. If it proves necessary in the future, the signs will be more defined if e.g. cars other than EVs are found parked in the charging places.
The sciope of the project at Hotel Ilves also included Plugit’s reporting services, which enable the monitoring and reporting of user-specific charging events of the charging devices at the hotel. On a general level the system enables the monitoring of e.g. the progress in the number charging events and costs incurred, as well as the amount by which CO2 emissions have thus been reduced.

Comments on the cooperation:
”We are extremely satisfied with the service. All our queries were answered very promptly. The best thing about the whole process was its clarity: everything was explained clearly to the non-technicals among us. We received guidance on everything, from design of the signs to training in the use of the chargers”, says a satisfied hotel manager, Kati Vihma.
