Charging your EV
In this article PlugIt introduces the different electric vehicle charging options.
Charging Type 1 (Mode 1)
Light electric vehicles
Light/small sized vehicles and devices (electric bicycles, scooters, lawn mowers...) can be charged from normal household wall plugs.
This charging mode is not recommended for long- range charging, since the charging cable and the connector may overheat.
Charging Type 2 (Mode 2)
Charging with temporary charger
In Mode 2 the electric vehicle is normally charged from a household wall socket, but the charging cable has a current limiter that ensures safe charging. This charging mode is not recommended for long range charging since neither the cable nor the current limiter prevent possible loading issues. Use this charging mode only as a temporary solution, for example during vacations.
Charging Type 3 (Mode 3)
Charging with official charger
In Mode 3 the electric vehicle is charged with an official charger. This is the most safe/easy/common/battery-friendly way to charge your EV. These high quality chargers are approved by car manufacturers, and usually the car brands provide the charging cables. From PlugIt you can purchase Mode 3 chargers for your home or workplace. With Mode 3 chargers the charging time is usually 1-6 hours, depending on the vehicle.
Charging Type 4 (Mode 4)
Quick power charging
In Mode 4 the electric vehicle is charged with a public quick charger. The current is so powerful that the battery is charged from 0-80% in half an hour. Not all vehicles can be charged with this quick charger, and this charging mode is not recommended for daily use since the battery may elapse.
