Kesko opens EV charging points at its business locations
The charging of electric vehicles will soon be possible on your K-Plussa bonus card at Kesko's business locations. The installation work will be performed by PlugIt Finland.
The first charging points were located in the parking lots of Tammisto K-citymarket in Vantaa, Merituuli mall in Espoo, K-citymarkets at Länsikeskus Kupitta in Turku, and at Karisma mall in Lahti. Four charging points will be installed at each location.
"We want to offer good service and help our customers make environmentally favourable decisions. The K-Group is doing long-term accountability work, of which one central theme is control of climate change and reducing emissions", says Matti Kalervo, Accountability Manager at Kesko.
Charging devices suitable for all chargeable vehicles
The charging points being installed in the car parks of K-shops offer safe charging for all types of chargeable vehicles. The charging devices have a socket of mode 3 and Type 2, where the driver's own charging cable can be plugged in.
"The charging time of the vehicles on the charger vary to some extent, depending on the capacity of the cars to take on current. The chargers give a maximum output of 3 x 32A, which means that at best the vehicle can be charged in an hour for almost 100 km of driving time", says Jari Suuronen, Buiding Services Manager.
Kesko is commissioning charging points in its major retail locations. The charging points are marked to stand out visibly, so that they are easy to find in a parking lot. Charging points, or readiness for charging points, are also being built or included in all new and renovation shopping centre projects, respectively.
PlugIt enthusiastically involved in the projects
Kesko has selected PlugIt Finland as its cooperation partner in the implementation of the charging system.
It is fantastic that a nationwide retail store is setting an example regarding the importance of EV charging. As the number of chargeable vehicles on the road grows, charging points must be brought to the places where people spend their time. Cooperation with Kesko has been extremely interesting for PlugIt, as we have been able to develop the charging points according to the customer's needs, i.e. the possibility to charge on the K-Plussa bonus card", says Topi Aaltonen, Director of Sales and Marketing at PlugIt.
Plugit Finland operates widely in the area of electric transport. We have supplied over 500 charging devices for different applications.
