PlugIt's installation work at EV charging points in Lapland
PlugIt's installation team headed for Finnish Lapland to install the EV charging devices in Fortum's Charge & Drive charger network
PlugIt had a hand in expanding Fortum's Charge & Drive charger network last October-November by installing seven new charging points around the northernmost reaches of Finland. The charging points are intended especially to serve EV motorists arriving from Norway.
The charging points have been located to ease the lives of EV travellers of Finland, Norway and Sweden. Their locations are: Kilpisjärvi (Kilpishalli), Muonio (Harriniva Hotel and Lapin Lomamökit (holiday cabins)), Enontekiö ( Galdotieva Tunturikeskus and Rajabaari), Utsjoki (Ailigas Market) and Inari (Inari Hotel ).
All charging devices installed are double-sided Garo LS-3 devices, Mode 3 Type 2, which can charge two cars simultaneously, with a charging capacity of 3 x 32A. The motorist should have their own Type 2 charging cable.
The installation project went smoothly
According to PlugIt's Ville Myöhänen, "The project went extremely well. The biggest challenge was in the great distances we had to drive in Lapland, at times on poor roads".
Thankfully, the weather conditions were ideal for installation puposes, as there was no snow yet and the temperatures were not terribly low.
Says Fortum's Juha Matikainen: "The project couldn't have gone better, and was even completed a day early. The installation locations were challenging and the distances between them were great. We are happy with the quality of the work carried out, as are our customers at whose premises the points are installed. Thanks due to PlugIt for a well-managed project".
Matikainen kertoo lisäksi, että kuukauden kokemuksella pohjoisen latauslaitteista voidaan sanoa, että ne on otettu erittäin hyvin vastaan. Laitteilla on ollut jo nyt runsaasti käyttäjiä erityisesti Norjasta ja Ruotsista
Fortum on toteuttanut Lapin latausverkoston kasvun yhteistyössä Renaultin kanssa. Fortum ja Renault aloittivat yhteistyön vuoden 2014 lopussa. Tällä hetkellä yhteistyö kattaa yhteensä 160 latauspistettä, joista suurin osa sijaitsee Norjassa. Fortum Charge & Drive -verkosto toimii Norjassa, Ruotsissa ja Suomessa.
