The Karisma shopping mall in Lahti attracts EV drivers to charge up

One of Kesko's first EV charging points installed at Karisma mall in Lahti, in Southern Finland

At the end of last year the nationwide trading company Kesko announced that it would be commissioning EV charging points to be installed at some of their business locations. The first charging points were located in the parking lots of Tammisto K-citymarket in Vantaa, Merituuli mall in Espoo, K-citymarkets at Länsikeskus Kupitta in Turku, and at Karisma mall in Lahti. PlugIt Finland carried out the installation work of the charging points.

Easy to charge and shop at Karisma

The Karisma mall is situated near the centre of Lahti, and has good transport links, and thus is expected to be a popular charging place among EV drivers.

The mall is full of distractions for people of all ages, so the time it takes to charge your EV will pass very quickly.

Karisma shopping mall

The Karisma shopping mall in Lahti was opened in November 2011. Situated tight next to Highway No 4, with ideal transport connections, it houses a total of almost 60 different stores, and has a footfall of apprximately 3 million per year. The distance to the centre of Lahti is about 5.5km.

Karisma's parking lot has four EV charging points, where you can charge any type of electric vehicle. All you need for charging is your own Type 2 charging cable (mode 3). The charging points are located in the middle of the ground floor of the mall's parking hall in line H. You also need a K-Plussa NFC bonus card or a K-Plussa mobile card to be able to charge your car, but if you have neither, you can borrow a card at the Info desk in the mall.

Karisma shopping mall offers EV drivers a variety of services

The EV charging points commissioned by Kesko for Karisma shopping mall have been well received. They are expected to be of special interest to EV drivers travelling via Highway No 4, as it is so easy to stop for shopping at Karisma mall.

Says Petri Tynkkynen, Karisma's Property Manager: "We have found that EV drivers choose to shop at locations where charging points have been installed. Thanks to the charging points, Karisma mall is an attractive stop-off point also for EV drivers".

"Karisma shopping centre houses almost 60 stores, so there's something for everyone. We believe that diversified services have a high appeal factor when an EV driver chooses where to stop off to charge the car", continues Mari Rönkä, Manageress of the shopping centre.

The charging points are considered especially appropriate for the shopping centre, as they support the Green values it promotes.
