Why purchase a fixed EV charging device?
When choosing an EV charging device that is to be installed in a permanent location, make sure it is of a type that can be fixed in place, and is approved by the car manufacturer. An approved charging device is safe for the car, for the user and for the property.
A fixed charging device ensures the safe, easy and fast charging of your vehicle. Charging of a fully electric vehicle by temporary charging device can take 12 hours, but by fixed charging device the battery can be fully charged in half the time, or less - between 4 and 6 hours. The charging devices are wall- or pillar-mounted. Remote control is also possible, depending on the device.
It's safe
- A fixed charging device is always a safe choice for the user, for the property and for the vehicle.
- In every case, for personal protection, a fault current guard is fitted to the charging device. This protects the user in the case of a fault current situation, and also if the cable or charging plug has been damaged.
- The charging device "communicates" continuously with the vehicle's charging system, whereupon any fault situations occurring in the car will result in the charging being shut off.
- The charging device is safe for the property: the input it uses from the property's electricity network can be restricted, which makes it suitable for almost all homes and workplaces.
- The charging device is also equipped with a surge guard, which protects the device and EV from any possible surge peaks occurring in the electricity network, e.g. thunder or trees falling on electricity lines.
It's easy
- The customer's parking habits are clarified at the installation phase (car port, garage or other), and the charging device should be installed in the optimal place from the point of view of ease of charging and convenience of use.
- The charging device is always installed as close as possible to the charging socket on the vehicle. Charging the car is easier if you don't have to dig a temporary charging device out every time (e.g. from the boot of your car).
- The charging device is always ready for charging: and the car gets charged up during shorter periods of parking, too.
- Most charging devices can be fitted with an energy meter, whereby the energy used to charge the car can be itemised (for example in a housing- or other company, for taxation purposes).
- Some charging devices can be controlled remotely, whereby the charging is switched on and off remotely. The device can also be connected to the power control system of the property's electricity network, which limits the vehicle charging capacity automatically.
It's fast
- Generally speaking, charging devices that are to be permanently fixed at home or at the workplace are of single- or 3-phase 16A-32A. The kind of device is usually determined according to the vehicle, because for example chargeable hybrids mostly use single-phase charging.
- Charging of a car battery by charging device is often twice as fast as charging by the device that comes with the car for temporary charging. Even during shorter park-and-charge stops the car can be charged for a convenient amount of kilometres, and savings can be made, too.
- A charging device is virtually a must for the driver of an EV, so that full advantage can be made of the vehicle in daily traffic
